After years of planning and consultation, Town Planning Schemes for the respective districts have been adopted. They seek a balanced and sustainable approach to growth for the next decade. Most importantly, they seek higher quality environmental, community and economic outcomes for all residents across the diverse landscape of Moreton Bay Region.
The contributions provided by the development sector include both assets (for example roads) for new subdivisions and also cash contributions for the future improvement of community infrastructure, such as water treatment plants. The dollars are spent mainly providing community services and constructing new and improved infrastructure with the largest outlays for sewerage, roadworks and drainage.
Building applications are required for all new building work.
Town planning (or land use planning) is one of the most important mechanisms available to local government to achieve important social, cultural and environmental management goals.
